Candidate Terms

These terms govern your job search, profile visibility, and applications on CareerConnect.lk.

These Candidate Terms supplement the Terms of Use and apply to anyone who creates or uses a candidate account or profile.

1. Candidate eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old. Your account must belong to you and must not be created or controlled by another person without lawful authority.

2. Accuracy and truthfulness

You must provide truthful, current and non-misleading information. You must not falsely claim a qualification, membership, employer, title, experience level, reference, work authorisation or achievement.

You must promptly correct material inaccuracies. CareerConnect may request reasonable evidence, mark information as unverified, hide fields or suspend a profile that cannot be verified.

3. Profile content

Your profile should contain only information relevant to professional discovery. Do not upload:

  • •another person’s confidential information without permission;
  • •identity documents, bank credentials, passwords or one-time passwords;
  • •confidential information belonging to a current or former employer;
  • •discriminatory, defamatory, unlawful or infringing material; or
  • •unnecessary sensitive personal data.

Before listing a referee or another person’s contact details, obtain that person’s permission.

4. Visibility and anonymity

You control the visibility options offered by the platform. When your profile is searchable, authorised employers may view the professional fields permitted by your settings and may contact you through the enabled channel.

If you use anonymous or restricted visibility, your identity or direct contact details should remain hidden until you reveal them or the relevant setting permits disclosure. You are responsible for reviewing the preview of what employers or the public can see.

Public or featured profile display is optional and requires a separate opt-in. You may withdraw it through settings or by contacting support.

5. Employer contact

CareerConnect may notify you when an employer sends an enquiry. You decide whether to respond, disclose further details, attend an interview or pursue an opportunity.

You must communicate respectfully and must not use an employer’s contact for unrelated marketing, harassment or fraud.

6. No guarantee of interview or employment

Creating a profile, paying for a plan, receiving a verification badge or appearing in search results does not guarantee contact, an interview, an offer, employment, salary level or career outcome.

Employers control their own hiring decisions. CareerConnect is not responsible for rejection, delayed contact, withdrawal of an opportunity or the conduct of an employer outside the platform.

7. Candidate safety and due diligence

Before accepting an opportunity or sharing sensitive information:

  • •verify the employer and the person contacting you;
  • •confirm the role, location, pay, benefits and employment conditions in writing;
  • •do not pay money merely to be interviewed or considered for ordinary employment;
  • •never share passwords, one-time passwords or bank-login credentials;
  • •be cautious of requests to purchase equipment, transfer funds or receive money for another person; and
  • •report suspicious or abusive conduct to CareerConnect promptly.

CareerConnect’s employer review is not a guarantee. Candidates remain responsible for independent checks and professional advice.

8. Verification

If verification is offered, you agree to provide accurate information and reasonable evidence. Verification confirms only that specified checks were completed; it does not guarantee competence, honesty or suitability.

We may revoke a badge or request renewed verification if information changes or concerns arise.

9. Plans and visibility periods

Candidate plan features, visibility periods, price and renewal status are shown at purchase. A paid boost or extended visibility does not guarantee any employer response.

When a visibility period expires, the profile may become hidden, reduced in ranking or subject to the free-plan limits shown at the time of purchase. Candidates should receive clear notice before purchase.

10. Licence to operate the profile

You retain ownership of your profile content and grant CareerConnect the limited licence described in the Terms of Use. The licence ends when the data is deleted, except for protected backups, legal records and content already lawfully retained by another user.

11. Hiding, deactivating and deleting

You may:

  • •hide your profile while keeping the account;
  • •deactivate the account temporarily, if that feature is available; or
  • •request permanent account deletion.

The procedure and retention exceptions are described on the Data Removal page. Hiding a profile does not automatically delete messages, billing records, security logs or copies previously accessed by an employer.

12. Candidate responsibility after contact

Any interview, test, reference request, offer, contract, onboarding, payment or employment relationship is between you and the employer or relevant agency. Review documents carefully and obtain independent advice where needed.

13. Suspension and profile removal

CareerConnect may remove content or suspend a candidate account for false information, impersonation, abuse, security risk, unlawful activity, repeated non-response designed to manipulate the service, or another breach of the Terms.

Where reasonable, you may appeal through support.

14. Privacy

Candidate data is handled according to the Privacy Policy. You should use available privacy controls and avoid placing unnecessary personal information in searchable fields.
