This Cookie Policy explains how CareerConnect.lk uses cookies, local storage, pixels, software development kits and similar technologies when you visit or use the platform.

A cookie is a small text file stored by a browser. Some technologies are necessary for login and security. Others remember preferences, measure usage or support communications and marketing.

2. Cookie categories

Strictly necessary

These technologies are required to provide core features such as secure login, session continuity, fraud prevention, load balancing, consent records and account settings. They cannot normally be disabled through our settings, although a browser may block them and cause the site not to function.

Preferences and functionality

These remember choices such as language, interface preferences, privacy settings or previously selected filters.

Analytics and performance

These help us understand how users navigate the platform, which pages or features are used, and where errors occur. Analytics should not be activated before consent where consent is required.

Advertising and social media

These may measure campaigns, support personalised advertising or connect to social-media services. CareerConnect should not use these technologies unless they are specifically approved, disclosed and controlled through consent settings.

4. Cookie banner requirements

The first-visit banner should provide:

CareerConnect.lk uses necessary cookies to keep the platform secure and working. No optional category should be pre-selected. Consent should be recorded, easy to withdraw and renewed after a material change or after the chosen consent period.

5. Managing preferences

Users should be able to reopen Cookie Settings from the footer at any time. Withdrawing consent should stop future non-essential tracking, although information already lawfully processed may be retained as described in the Privacy Policy.

Browser settings can also block or delete cookies. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent login, profile editing, messaging or other features.

6. Third-party sign-in

When a user selects Google or LinkedIn sign-in, the user is redirected to or interacts with that provider. The provider may set its own cookies under its own privacy and cookie terms. CareerConnect should request only the minimum permissions needed for authentication.

7. Do Not Track and browser signals

Browser “Do Not Track” signals are not uniformly standardised. Where legally required or technically supported, CareerConnect will honour recognised consent and privacy preference signals.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update the cookie inventory when providers or technologies change. The “last updated” date should be revised after every material change or production scan.
